ICITS 2009 Shizuoka & Area

Shizuoka is a prefecture with a population of 3.79 million people, located almost at the center of the Japanese archipelago. The Pacific Ocean lies to the south, and, to the north, stands the majestic Mr. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan and the national symbol. Izu Peninsula, full of sightseeing spots and hot springs, is also a part of Shizuoka Prefecture. Green tea and "Unshu Mikan," a type of orange, are Shizuoka’s leading agricultural products.

December is an excellent month for enjoying Mt. Fuji’s spectacular view since the sky is clear and the weather is dry.
